Harris-Matthews, Tom

Tom Harris-Matthews, left, and fellow escaper Norman Gates, centre, in Switzerland

Lt. Tom Harris-Matthews, who was a prisoner of war at Fontanellato, near Parma, and who escaped to Switzerland after the Armistice in September 1943, left a fascinating and detailed account of his adventures. We are grateful to his daughter, Jane Harris-Matthews, and to the Harris-Matthews family, for allowing its publication.
